Enhancements

New Development for Bulk Cross Reference Import/Exports

At Elcome we strive to improve our products functionality in order to give you, our users, the flexibility and improved performance you need. In our latest release we present an improved approach to the Bulk Xref Import and Export functionality, allowing you greater ease in handling your data. Improved features are explained below:

1. Compressed Mode

  • Cross references (Xrefs) will now appear compressed. Some users although rare, have cross references against multiple product types.
  • For those of you who do use this feature (Complex Xref Mode), you will now see the multiple product types compressed into one column (highlighted in red below) and separated by a semi-colon.
  • If you do not use this feature, you will not see any change.

If you do not have a standard Xchecker setup (Parent/Child or Leader/Follower) then you may see multiples in your file where they are not compressed.

Please take note of the Ownership column (highlighted in yellow) which indicates the relationship the part has with the other similar row in the file. We do not compress these so you can still see the relationship between the parts.

2. Editing records for Compressed records

If you want to amend any of the records of a compressed record, you need to edit the Product Type field to ONLY contain the product type(s) you wish to make changes to.

i.e. If you have [brake pad]; [brake pad internal]; [Brake Pad-Ecat only] But for this example, you wish to only make a change to the [Brake Pad-Ecat only] version. You need to create a row as you would normally but remove the other product types from the Product Type field on this row. Don't worry about the ones you remove, the system just leaves them as they are.

So, your new row only says [Brake pad-Ecat only] in the Product Type field and you can make the necessary addition, deletion or amend. Please remember if you use: - Parent/Child - Leader/Follower Then changes will be dependent on relationships you have created and the rules relevant to those parts. For example. You cannot amend a follower if it takes cross references from the leader part, as this would be reported as an error.

3. Delete Column

Whilst working on an export you may notice cross references you wish to remove. You will see a new column called Delete. - If you wish to delete an item you need to add a "y" into this column, any other character will not have an action. - And "n" is a default value, no action - Blank or null, no action - Deleting an entire row will not remove the data either, so entering a "y" is the only way a delete will be carried out.

4. Xref ID

To allow Elcome to better track changes and to ensure your data maintains its integrity, we have introduced an Xref ID. This is an internal ID which is needed by our systems so please do not change, delete or edit this field in anyway. This column is marked as Read only (highlighted in the red box) so you should not experience any issues.

Please note: All other functionality for Cross Reference Import/Export remains the same.
